God has called the most incredible people to live in La Ceiba and support the planting of indigenous churches. It is exhausting work and the challenges are great, but these folks are tireless and devoted and understand that their strength comes from the power of Jesus. We were so clearly on mission together that they instantly felt like family. I can't wait to get back and see them again. ~ Brandon Dean; Team Leader 2016
At New City Church we embrace the Great Commission with the expectation that Jesus will build his Kingdom in all nations. We are intentional about our calling both here in the U.S. and abroad. Regardless of where we find ourselves, our method is the same: church planting. Though we are a church plant ourselves and have limited resources, we know that through the Holy Spirit we can do anything. Therefore, we have chosen to focus our global efforts on one geographic region for the time being: La Ceiba, Honduras.
The Mission to the World team in La Ceiba is planting indigenous churches and discipling local Honduran pastors. They have established a local seminary where pastors are being trained theologically. Alongside the church-planting efforts are practical ministries addressing the pressing needs of the people in La Ceiba; medical clinics, a drop-in center providing after-school care for street boys, and a home for single mothers. In all of these ways, the team is able to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel of grace to the people of La Ceiba.
