The Fatherless

… THE LEVITE, BECAUSE HE HAS NO PORTION OR INHERITANCE WITH YOU, AND THE SOJOURNER, THE FATHERLESS, AND THE WIDOW, WHO ARE WITHIN YOUR TOWNS, SHALL COME AND EAT AND BE FILLED, THAT THE LORD YOUR GOD MAY BLESS YOU IN ALL THE WORK OF YOUR HANDS THAT YOU DO.

DEUTERONOMY 14:29

The Fatherless

In Scripture, we see that God calls us to take special care of children who lose the nurture, guidance and provision of their earthly parents.

“FATHERLESS” CHILDREN

In need of adoption In need of foster care Raised by single mothers or fathers With absentee fathers or mothers With incarcerated fathers or mothers With abusive fathers or mothers With neglectful fathers or mothers

Our Method

MISSIONAL COMMUNITY

All of our mercy ministry is accomplished primarily through our Missional Communities. Our vision is to live as the family of God, together proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel of grace to one another and our city. Sometimes an MC will serve together at an event or helping children directly. Other times, someone within an MC will open their home to a child, and the missional community will come alongside them.

COMMUNITY MENTORING

Gwinnett County Public Schools Community Mentoring Program connects caring adults in the community with male and female students in grades 4 through 12 to provide guidance, encouragement, and support to help them become successful young adults, both in and out of school. New City Church has been participating in this program for the past couple of years. Not only does it help demonstrate the gospel of grace to children, but it reinforces our commitment to support Richards Middle School. Missional Communities come alongside those who mentor through prayer and other support.

FOSTER FRIENDS

New City Church is a Promise Church in partnership with Live the Promise.  Foster Friends are small groups of people who seek to provide prayer and practical support to specific families who have opened their homes to the many children in need of foster care or adoption within Lawrenceville and all of Gwinnett County.  Foster Friends groups are supported by the Missional Communities as needs are brought to them.
